First tied by Don Gapen , this streamer is tied using bunches of deer hair clipped back for the head, with a mottled turkey tail, grey squirrel tail underwing and all tied with a copper wire rib. Deer hair is highly buoyant and creates a special ‘muddler’ action in the water which is a great fish attractor. The addition on this fly of bright orange marabou at the tail makes it especially attractive.
Imitates: Bait fish, originally bullhead baitfish
METHOD
Stillwater - there are many ways to fish a Muddler minnow, sunk, dry or deep, but the most common is by using a retrieve that makes it swim like a small fleeing baitfish.
