One of the world's better-known flies, originating from New Zealand, with a broad-spectrum imitative ability and very forgiving of incorrect retrieval technique. As the story goes, this fly was tied and used in 1936 by a party of anglers who returned, after a successful day's fishing, to hear the news of the abdication of King Edward VIII in order to marry Mrs Wallis Simpson. They decided to name it after her.

Imitates: Dragonfly nymph

METHOD

Stillwater: A slow strip or figure-of-eight with occasional short, fast strips to imitate dragonfly nymphs. Fish on fast-sink line deep, or around weed beds.

Running water: Fish across and down on a fast-sink line in flowing water. The Mrs Simpson can also imitate small fry so you can also do a fast retrieve with occasional pauses and accelerations.

Saltwater: Often imitates a small shrimp or sea louse and should be retrieved slowly in small jerks. Use the movement of the sea with a lead-core line and allow the moving water to drift the fly around for you.

Lead time on production can depend on availability of materials and work load. Lead time for your order will be confirmed by email.

Orders: Fly tying is normally bespoke to the customer and if we do not have the flies in stock, we will tie to order. Once a bespoke order is submitted, we do request a 50% downpayment to start tying the flies and the balance on completion.
Returns: All of our products come with a no fuss guarantee. You are entitled to return your order at anytime within 7 days of receiving your goods. The cancellation period ends on the expiry of the period of 7 working days beginning with the day after the day on which you received the goods. If you wish to return an order under these terms, first contact us and then return your products unopened within 7 days of receiving your parcel.

Refunds: If you are not satisfied with the goods and inform us within seven days of your receipt of the goods, you may return them and we will give a full refund. Or we will exchange items if they are faulty on delivery to you and we are notified within 10 days of the customers receipt of the product. All products to be returned must be carefully repackaged in their original packing.

We normally keep limited stock of flies due to the diversity of the patterns. We may have to tie some of the patterns on order. Lead time to delivery is normally in about 2 weeks but this may take up to 4 weeks if the order is large.

The amount of time that it takes from the time you order to the time the flies reach the shipping address may depends on the following factors.
a) The pattern of the fly: some patternsare more complex and require longer times to tie
b) The quantity of the order: Our flies are hand-made and larger orders will take longer to fulfil.
c) Holidays: Public holidays and religious holidays occurring throughout the year might affect your order lead time.
