Montana nymphs are one of the most popular trout flies on the market. The original Montana fly was developed in the USA and was tied to be black and gree. Today it has developed into both short and long shank and a range of colour combinations to boot.
Imitates: a variety of aquatic insects, such as stoneflies or large mayfly nymphs
METHOD
One of the best places to fish is just a few inches below the surface. One popular way to achieve this is to drop a nymph below a dry fly using a "dry dropper" rig. Double nymph rigs can also be used, fished just below the surface, sometimes with very large nymphs
