One of the most successful bonefish flies ever created, this fly is a great imitator of small shrimp and was , so legend has it, first created by Jim McVay who tied this fly using carpet clippings from a cab he had hired to take him to the Andros Island Bonefish Club in the Bahamas. Mercifully for the taxi owner, subsequent patterns have been tied using craft fur, which gives it a subtle movement in the water. The name is attribuated to McVay's friend, Rupert Leadon, who yelled "Gotcha!" every time a bonefish took the fly.
